Grand Performances features Taller Bula as the next installment in our artist TAKEOVER series. In honor of Grito de Lares, their set will commemorate the first major revolt against Spanish rule in Puerto Rico. Taking place on Facebook and Instagram Live from the historic Lodge Room, the group will perform original Bomba songs, history in song, and poetry sure to invigorate viewers with uptempo drumming and powerful vocals.
Wednesday, September 23rd Tai Chi 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm
Originating in ancient China, tai chi is an effective form of exercise for the mind and body. The ultimate purpose of tai chi is to cultivate the qi, or life energy, within a practitioner to flow smoothly and powerfully throughout the body. Known as “meditation in motion,” this low impact, slow-motion exercise goes through a series of motions without stopping, focusing on the breath and bodily sensations. Tai chi can be easily adapted for any fitness level or body type. There are many benefits of tai chi including, the reduction of stress and anxiety as well as increased balance, strength, cognitive function, and flexibility.

This class focuses on all major muscle groups and is designed to strengthen and condition the entire body. Particular attention is paid to form and safety to ensure that each participant gets a great workout regardless of fitness level or age. This is an all-level class.

Artist Ken Karagozian’s “Deep Connections” is a new photo exhibit at Union Station. Per a release: “Karagozian’s intimate photographs chronicle a unique view of Los Angeles through the documentation of Metro subway construction over the last three decades.
