Meditation is a simple and effective approach to training and quieting the mind for a period of time to build awareness, attention, and relaxation.  There are numerous scientifically-proven health benefits to the practice, including stress reduction, enhanced self-awareness, and improved happiness and general well-being. This class cultivates balance, flexibility, strength, and endurance using standing poses, balancing postures, seated and reclining poses, backbends, and core isolation. Special emphasis is placed on moving in and out of postures safely in a fluid manner. Participants will learn the correct alignment for integral poses and how to connect those poses to breathing exercises. Classes are all-level and geared to bring energy and relaxation into the day. RSVP

Super Bowl Sports Trivia

Calling all sports fans! Get your first touchdown with our big game sports trivia. Participants will play 3 rounds of sports-themed trivia. The player with the highest score will win a prize! Valentines Day Appetizer Cooking Class

Mardi Gras Cooking Class

Calligraphy

In this live-interactive virtual group class, participants will fall in love with calligraphy. This beginners workshop will teach participants the fundamentals of the meditative art of pointed pen calligraphy in an inspirational, educational AND fun way! The easy-to-understand instruction is focused on everything participants need to get started & enjoy calligraphy: how to properly hold & use a dip pen with acrylic ink, setting up your workspace, healthy ergonomics, and more! Aromatherapy    

Thursday, February 25th – 4:00 pm  - 4:45 pm  

Aromatherapy is the therapeutic application or the medicinal use of essential oils for holistic healing. Essential oils have been used with the aim of improving a person's health or mood. Applications included massage, topical applications, and inhalation. Join this class and create your own essential oil blend using lemon, lavender, and peppermint! RSVP


Local Happenings 


LACMA and LA County Library have partnered on several online programs for teens and kids. They include storytelling and art workshops, plus info on how to pursue a career in museums.

The Skirball presents the Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope Jan. 21–May 31. The online exhibit is based on the New York Times bestselling book by Pulitzer Prize–winning journalists Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn and features images of America’s most complex problems captured by photojournalist Lynsey Addario.

The Music Center and dublab present A Quiet Scene: L.A., a free film competition and screening initiative. Anyone can submit a short film that is “an authentic reflection of Los Angeles during current times,” which must be paired with and filmed in duration to one of the seven tracks featured on the Roger and Brian Eno EP Luminous. Submissions are open at filmfreeway.com/AQuietSceneLA from Jan. 22 through Feb. 21.
