Happy October! As the nights begin to cool off and Los Angeles enters fall, take the time to enjoy all the beautiful and wonderful things that make DTLA so special. Included in this newsletter are some of my favorite things happening in Los Angeles this month.

Let's Paint The Building Pink!


City National 2CAL supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You can make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer by purchasing a "Paint The Building Pink" t-shirt.

Ride and Dine to The Bloc 

Tuesday, October 12th, 11:00 am -  1:30 pm 

City National 2CAL will be offering complimentary shuttle service to The Bloc on Tuesday, February 18th. The Bloc is located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles the campus features premier retailers such as Macy's, restaurants, open-air green space, and entertainment.  Plan out your experience here.

Virtual Sound Bath 

Tuesday, October 19th - 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm 

A Sound Bath is an experience in which gongs and sound bowls are played in a way to promote a more relaxed mind and nervous system. In a well-played sound bath, the sounds guide listeners on a journey of self-discovery and inner exploration, promote deep relaxation and peace, expansion of consciousness, and helps to open the body’s entire energetic system. This experience will be held on zoom

Chair Yoga with Audrey Tesserot

Wednesday, October 6th - 12:30 pm - 1:15 pm 

This class cultivates balance, flexibility, strength, and endurance using standing poses, balancing postures, seated and reclining poses, backbends, and core isolation. Special emphasis is placed on moving in and out of postures safely in a fluid manner. Participants will learn the correct alignment for integral poses and how to connect those poses to breathing exercises. Classes are all-level and geared to bring energy and relaxation into the day.

 

Guided Meditation with Audrey Tesserot

Wednesday, October 13th - 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm 

Meditation is a simple and effective approach to training and quieting the mind for a period of time to build awareness, attention, and relaxation. There are numerous scientifically proven health benefits to the practice, including stress reduction, enhanced self-awareness, and improved happiness and general well-being.

 

Ergonomics with Mattie DiNapoli

Wednesday, October 27th - 12:30 pm - 1:15 pm 

Office-based employees often spend most of their day sitting at a desk, looking at a computer screen, and/or per- forming repetitive movements that can lead to injury and stress on the body. Adopting an ergonomically friendly workspace can reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders associated with these behaviors. Learn how to adapt your workspace to be ergonomically friendly and discover the importance of proper posture and stretches that can be incorporated into the workday to alieve stress.

Kicking off on Friday, October 1, and running through October 15 the public will be treated to lunch menus starting at just $15 and dinner menus starting at $25. Los Angeles Haunted Hayride -> After adapting to a drive-thru version last year, the Haunted Hayride is back in Griffith Park for 2021 with in-person activities based around a fictional town named Midnight Falls, circa 1985. In addition to the signature hayride, highlights for this year’s event include a Trick or Treat Maze, the Midnight Mortuary Tour, and the Dead End Diner. Kicks off this Friday, Sep. 24, and runs on select nights through Oct. 31. General Admission tickets are $39.99 (access to all attractions) and if you want to do the hayride only it’ll run you $29.99. Get more info here.
 Boo at the Zoo -> The Los Angeles Zoo goes wild this October with the return of Boo at the L.A. Zoo, featuring Halloween decor, a spooky stroll with photo ops, an extinct-animal graveyard, and other weird and wacky animal facts and educational opportunities. Weekends include special animal feedings, merry-not-scary entertainment, take-home crafts, and, during the last two weekends in October, trick-or-treat candy stations scattered throughout the Zoo grounds. Runs Oct. 1-31. All activities are included with Zoo admission, which is $22 for adults, and $17 for children 2-12. Tickets are More info here.

Outdoor Movies at Pershing Square -> Pershing Square’s Friday film screening series continues on Oct. 1 with a showing of Rocketman. Entry is free, and the event is all-ages. Food will be available for purchase onsite. More info here.
